Storage Method Of Carbon Tetrafluoride

Jun 09, 2026 Leave a message

Carbon tetrafluoride is typically stored as a compressed gas in dedicated high-pressure cylinders or compliant pressure vessels. Storage areas should be cool, dry, and well-ventilated, avoiding prolonged direct sunlight and keeping away from heat sources, fire sources, and other environments that may affect cylinder safety. Cylinders should be stored according to relevant regulations, placed stably, and secured to prevent collisions, tipping, or other mechanical damage.

When storing carbon tetrafluoride, special attention should be paid to checking the sealing of cylinders, valves, and connections to prevent gas leaks caused by equipment aging or loose connections. Product markings and warning signs on cylinders should be clear and intact, and cylinders of different gases should not be mixed arbitrarily. For already filled cylinders, the storage quantity should be controlled according to cylinder management requirements, and the cylinder condition and pressure should be checked regularly.

During handling and transfer, specialized tools suitable for high-pressure cylinders should be used, and cylinders should be handled with care to avoid violent vibrations, drops, or impacts. Protective devices should be installed on cylinders during transportation and storage, and valves should be kept closed. Cylinder valves and related components should not be disassembled or replaced without permission. Before use, ensure that the appearance, markings, and valid inspection status of the gas cylinder meet the requirements.

While tetrafluorocarbon itself is not a flammable gas, a leak in a confined space can reduce the oxygen content in the air. Therefore, the storage area should be well-ventilated, and appropriate gas detection and safety protection measures should be implemented according to the actual scale of use. In the event of a leak, the site should be isolated immediately, and the situation should be handled according to relevant safety operating procedures while ensuring personnel safety. Specific storage, transportation, and usage requirements should be based on the Product Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and relevant local regulations and standards.
